Cryptocurrency investor and developer Ogle shared his experience attending the “Mar-a-Lago Estate” NFT dinner hosted by Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, the 28th, in an article on Blockworks. He also discussed his thoughts on the investment and participation in the project.
Motivation behind purchasing Trump NFT
Ogle stated that he is not a fan of Donald Trump, but he spent nearly $20,000 (approximately NT$630,000) on purchasing Trump NFTs. The reason behind Ogle’s purchase was not the “art” of the NFT but rather the opportunity to profit during the bear market. He wrote:
In the end, Ogle received returns on this investment. He bought 200 Trump NFTs and only had to sell one rare NFT to recoup more than the initial cost. He also received other rewards, including Trump’s new book and tickets to a grand dinner where he could participate alongside Trump. Ogle also sold many of the NFTs to other collectors during the post-release craze.

Ogle mentioned that he does not agree with Trump’s statements and most of his decisions as the former president of the United States. The motivation for attending the Trump NFT dinner was more about family ties and trying to break out of his “elite bubble.”
Ogle attended the dinner with his grandfather and a friend, both of whom are Trump supporters. The dinner became a bridge for intergenerational communication, where “our familial bond was more important than our political differences.” He wrote:
Internal conflict of beliefs
Although Ogle stated that his decision to attend the dinner was seen by some as a deliberate political statement and even led to a decrease in followers on his X platform account, making him feel uncomfortable, he believes that Trump’s involvement in the NFT space is positive for the industry.
Ogle mentioned that during and after the dinner, his grandfather developed a new curiosity about cryptocurrency and NFTs and even decided to invest in the field when he has the means to do so. He believes this is the “best proof of this perspective.”
Ogle wrote:
Although Ogle expressed satisfaction with the return on his investment in Trump NFTs, his participation in the project prompted deep reflection on the ethical aspect of such decisions: “Can a person participate in opportunities that conflict with their personal beliefs without losing their moral compass, or is participating in the action itself an acknowledgment of those beliefs?”
While he is not certain if he has found the answer, Ogle stated that Trump indirectly made him confront these complex questions.
