Donald Trump to Host Top Holders of His Meme Coin at Private Golf Club
U.S. President Donald Trump will host the largest holders of his meme coin at a private golf club located in the capital of the United States.
According to an announcement on the official website, the top 220 holders of Trump’s official meme coin $TRUMP will be able to attend a private dinner with Trump on May 22 at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C. Among them, the top 25 holders will also be invited to an exclusive reception before the dinner, as well as a separately arranged VIP special itinerary.
Holders must register their information and cryptocurrency wallets on the official website to participate, and the official ranking will be based on the average holding amount from April 23 to May 12. Data shows that as of the time of this article’s publication, the largest registered holder possesses 400,000 TRUMP, valued at approximately $5.26 million.
After the announcement, the price of the TRUMP token surged from about $9.3 to $16 within an hour, a staggering increase of 73%. By the time of this article’s publication, its trading price had retreated to $13.
Trump launched his meme coin TRUMP on the weekend before his inauguration in January this year, with its price rising from under $1 to nearly $80 within two days. However, the token experienced a continuous decline over the following two months, dropping by as much as 90%.
The news of Trump’s meme coin dinner was announced a few days after a batch of TRUMP tokens was unlocked, meaning the team behind the project could sell part of their holdings. This unlock increased the circulating supply of TRUMP by 20%. However, it seems the team has re-locked these tokens and postponed the next unlocking plan. Their official X account stated, “The initial unlock and subsequent daily unlocks over the next three months will remain locked, and an additional 90 days will be added to the lock-up period.”
Previously, Trump’s NFT trading card team had hosted a dinner for holders at his “Mar-a-Lago” estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
