It was previously reported that Binance’s code, internal passwords, and other platform technical information were disclosed on GitHub. Although Binance later claimed that this information was outdated and the associated risks could be “negligible,” the exchange still submitted a copyright deletion request to GitHub, successfully requesting the removal of these documents.

However, last night, cryptocurrency anonymous analyst otteroooo pointed out on X platform that Binance user’s personal information (such as name, nationality, phone number, etc.) was being sold on the dark web and believed that the seller might be the hacker who leaked Binance’s code on GitHub.

This news quickly spread on the platform, and Binance’s customer service quickly stepped in to address the issue, stating that after an evaluation by the Binance security team, they found no related risks of user personal information leakage and that user accounts remained secure.

“Accounts are protected through multiple defense measures, including two-factor authentication, biometric identification, and authenticators. As always, we appreciate anyone who shares possible vulnerabilities and security issues with us so that we can investigate and take necessary measures to protect our users.”
