According to Bloomberg, despite the ruling of the Montenegrin Supreme Court allowing the extradition of Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, to South Korea to face charges related to the collapse of the stablecoin TerraUSD (UST) causing a loss of $40 billion in 2022, US prosecutors will continue to seek Do Kwon’s extradition.
In a statement on Thursday, the US Department of Justice said:
This ruling is a victory for Do Kwon, as his lawyer had expressed the hope that he could be extradited to South Korea. The South Korean Ministry of Justice, through a message, stated that they have not yet received a formal notification from Montenegro. Once they receive the relevant documents, the Ministry of Justice will take necessary measures in collaboration with the Montenegrin authorities.
