The Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), the world’s largest public retirement fund, announced on Tuesday (19th) that it is seeking information on illiquid assets to diversify its investment portfolio and promote sustainable investment in response to economic, social, and technological developments.
According to the announcement, GPIF is also seeking information on illiquid assets that it has not yet invested in, such as examples of investments in Bitcoin, gold, forestry, and farmland, investment concepts, and basic information on how to incorporate them into the retirement fund’s investment portfolio.
Currently, GPIF’s investments include domestic bonds, domestic stocks, foreign bonds, foreign stocks, private equities, real estate, and infrastructure. Although the retirement fund is seeking information on Bitcoin, it does not guarantee that it will choose to invest in this largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization once the evaluation is completed.
