According to The Block, Binance CEO Richard Teng announced at a blockchain event in Paris that the exchange is in talks with a few jurisdictions to determine where to establish its global headquarters.
Under the leadership of its founder, Changpeng Zhao, Binance has always maintained that it does not have a fixed headquarters, which has been a major point of controversy in terms of regulation. In response to this issue, current CEO Richard Teng stated in an interview in December that the headquarters is still under consideration, and Binance will announce a global headquarters at an “appropriate time.”
Co-founder He Yi has also stated in the community that Binance will establish a headquarters and board of directors as soon as possible in order to better align with the image of a “financial institution.”
According to previous reports by Zombit, Binance has fulfilled its commitment to establish a board of directors. The exchange disclosed the list of its first appointed board members on its official website. According to the information on the website, the board consists of seven members, including Binance CEO Richard Teng and three other internal executives – Heina Chen, Jinkai He, and Lilai Wang. It also includes three external members – Gabriel Abed, Arnaud Ventura, and Xin Wang.
