Developer Mysten Labs announced on Wednesday (10th) that it is collaborating with open-source operating system company Playtron to launch the open handheld gaming device SuiPlay0X1, which will support multiple game stores, from Sui Web3 games to Epic Games’ Epic Games Store.

Adeniyi Abiodun, Product Manager at Mysten Labs, stated in an interview with GamesBeat that SuiPlay0X1 will be the first handheld gaming device with native Web3 capabilities and will be available in global stores in 2025.

SuiPlay0X1 is powered by Playtron’s game operating system PlaytronOS, which is compatible with various devices, allowing players to play both Web3 and Web2 games on PCs and mobile devices. It also achieves native Sui blockchain integration through Sui’s Web3 identity verification solution zkLogin and Sui Kiosk SDK, which enables direct linkage between asset ownership and device account systems for the first time in the gaming industry.

The price of SuiPlay0X1 has not been determined yet, but it could be around $500. It is reported that this gaming device could theoretically be used for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency mining.
