According to a recent update shared by the owner Sato on the blog, Kabosu, the iconic Shiba Inu dog behind the Dogecoin meme, passed away on Friday morning (24th). Sato stated that a farewell event for Kabosu will be held on May 26th from 1 PM to 4 PM at Kaori Flowers, located in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
In a post, Kabosu’s owner expressed gratitude to those who have loved Kabosu for a long time, stating, “I believe Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world, and I was the happiest owner in the world.”

After the news broke, the price of Dogecoin (DOGE) briefly surged by around 9%, followed by a decline. As of the time of this article’s publication, the price stands at $0.164.
