According to a press release on PR Times, Japanese Sony Group’s cryptocurrency exchange company, Amber Japan, announced a rebranding to S.BLOX Co. The company also plans to revamp its trading platform, WhaleFin.

Originally, this cryptocurrency exchange entity was the Japanese exchange DeCurret, which was first acquired by Singapore’s Amber Group’s Japanese subsidiary in 2022. Subsequently, Sony’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Quetta Web Co., acquired the platform in August 2023.

The press release from S.BLOX stated that the company aims to collaborate with other businesses under Sony Group to create more value for its cryptocurrency trading services. The overhaul of the WhaleFin platform includes a redesign of the user interface and the release of a new mobile app to make it more user-friendly. WhaleFin is also expected to expand its supported currencies and functionalities further post the revamp. The exact launch date of the new platform is yet to be announced.
