The Free Republic of Liberland, located between Serbia and Croatia, announced the results of its parliamentary elections on Tuesday, with the founder of the public chain Tron, Justin Sun, set to become the Prime Minister of this micronation.
According to Liberland’s statement, Sun was chosen as Prime Minister by the country’s President Vít Jedlička. In addition to Sun, Indian entrepreneur Evan Luthra, Web3 journalist Jillian Godsil, and former Croatian parliament member Ivan Pernar were also elected as new members of parliament.
Founded in 2015 and not internationally recognized, Liberland claims a territory of 7.2 square kilometers and calls itself the “first country to adopt Bitcoin (BTC) as its official currency.” According to a previous statement by the country, its government operates on a “decentralized online platform” that allows citizens to participate. In the recent elections, Liberland used a “blockchain-based voting system.”
Justin Sun expressed his excitement on social platform X about being chosen as the Prime Minister of Liberland by the community. His goal is to continue promoting the concept of small government within Liberland and hopes to use it as a model for the world. He stated, “Our success can inspire other countries to embrace the principles of libertarianism.” Source: [Insert source]
